PRESIDENT'S REPORT - Karin
Caporuscio (474-1199 kacap66@yahoo.com)
The holiday season is upon us and it is
a very busy time for us all. It is an important time of the year
for us as members to give back to our community. Once again,
our hats and mittens campaign was a success, as well as, our
donations to the White Haven Center. We will soon be participating
in our Angel Tree project to help the children of our community
have a happy holiday season. Once again, you have been so gracious
in opening your hearts to help others in need.
I encourage you all to attend our holiday exchange this year.
It will be on Thursday, December 13th at 7PM at the home of
Irene Ziegler (456 Black Walnut Drive in Bow Creek). This
is always a fun night for everyone! Please RSVP to Irene at
403-5434 and let her know what you will be able to contribute
(appetizer, dessert, or beverage) and don't forget your wrapped,
unmarked gift (value $20).
Finally, the three charities we will be supporting this year
are the Marian Sutherland Kirby Library, the Wright Township
Park Expansion, and the Mountain Top Youth Soccer Association.
Congratulations to the three charities and thank you to all who
voted!
The next board meeting will be at the home of Lisa Charton, 23
Redcoat Lane in Walden Park, on Thursday, January 3rd at 7:30
pm.
I wish you all a happy and blessed holiday season

Hope everybody got a jumpstart on their holiday shopping
at our boutique last month; there certainly were some fabulous
gift ideas from all of the vendors. For the month of December,
there will be no formal meeting, but our January meeting will
be one that everybody should attend, our special guest speaker
will be Attorney Debra Grosek. She will be discussing various
legal topics of interest to women and will address any questions
you may have. This will be a truly informative meeting and I
hope everyone can attend.
We will be feasting on a wonderful Chinese

everybody comes hungry!

WA YS
& MEANS -Tricia Russell (403-7785, russelljt@verizon.net)
and Shannon Williams (474-5570, shannon.williams@flsmidth.com)
The Welcome Club has received dates for the Barnes &
Noble holiday gift-wrap fundraiser.
(If more dates are available, they will contact us after Thanksgiving.)
Saturday, December 8th from 6 pm to
11 pm
Tuesday, December 11th from 6 pm to 11 pm
This program is for non-profit organizations
to wrap gifts at the store. They provide the wrapping paper and
supplies, and we provide the volunteers. We are then allowed
to keep any donations we are given. We did this the past few
years and it was a fun way to raise some money for the Welcome
Club to support our chosen charities. We still need volunteers,
so please contact us if interested.
AUCTION, AUCTION, AUCTION!!!! It is never too early to think about the spring
charity auction. All proceeds will benefit our three selected
charities. So keep your eyes open for great deals during the
holiday sales! Donations for the auction can range from almost
any type of new item, homemade item, or baked goods, to services,
theme baskets, or monetary contributions. We are also always
interested in contacting new businesses, so if you have any ideas,
please contact us!

which provides meals to members experiencing an illness, birth
or death in the family
NEWSLETTER - Kim Kovalchik (403-1353,ejk2@verizon.net)
Please email newsletter articles for the February issue
to me by Tuesday, January 15, 2008. Also, please send
me the email addresses of any new members so I can add them to
the newsletter distribution list. If your email changes during
the year, please let me know. Happy Holidays!

SERVICES - Beth LaMarca (474-6320,
bethdoug@ptd.net) and
Mary Thomas (868-7737, vandert5@pa.metrocast.net)
Fire Department Appreciation Bakers: Thanks to the members
that provided baked goods for the monthly meetings of three main
fire companies in Mountain Top: Wright Township, Rice Township,
and Mountain Top Hose Company. This month the volunteers were
Egda Young, Bobbi Jo Romanishan, Sandra Norton, and Suze Rademan
(who baked double duty! - Thanks Suze!) We do still have a few
open spots, so it's not too late to offer your baking talents!
If you are interested, just contact Beth or Mary.
Also, a huge thank you to all of you who brought hats and mittens
to our 'Vendors Night'... our box was nicely packed with warm
items as our gift to those in need. That same evening, we did
hand out the nametags for the "Angel Tree" program.
This program is to sponsor a local child who has been referred
by St. Paul's Food Bank. You receive a nametag with a gender,
age, and ideas for a present for the holiday and then you shop
away! This is always a great program for the community, and a
perfect way to keep the true meaning to the season of giving!
We DO still have a few tags left, (and there may be a few more
coming) - so if you missed out on your 'Angel Duty' this year,
just give one of us a call or email. For all those that have
a tag, please return the wrapped gifts, with tag attached, to
Mary or Beth by December 13th as we are going to deliver them
to St. Paul's on December 14th - many thanks!!! We would be happy
to pick up your gifts as well if needed, just give us a call.
We have received a few items for the White
Haven Center as well, but it would be nice if we could add
to the packages for under their tree this year... when you are
out shopping the sales, try to think of something small you can
pick up and use for this program. If you need more information,
please refer to the flyer we emailed previously. Please keep
in mind that we need to deliver the items to the center before
December 12th. Thanks!
Deck the Halls with Welcome Club Singers...
Fa-la-la-la-Laaa, la, la, la La!!! We are so happy to announce
our service project for December - a Holiday Sing-a-Long at
Davis Manor!! With Thanksgiving early this year, it is hard
to see where the fall season has gone... but an afternoon of
singing Christmas Carols will surely start to get you into the
holiday spirit!! For our Halloween party, it was mainly toddlers
and parents, but we would like to open this afternoon up to ALL
MEMBERS!! We would like to get as many as possible to come and
kick off the holiday season. We will start the singing at 4:30
on Wednesday, December 12th. If you can attend, please let us
know so we don't start without you! ;-)
