PRESIDENT'S REPORT Shannon Williams (474-5570 richshan1@verizon.net)

Spring is almost here and we have many fun activities planned! Our auction is scheduled for April 16th at the Stage Coach Inn. Anything you can do to help is greatly appreciated. Bring a friend, a neighbor or family member! This is a fun evening out. Please see the Ways & Means section for more information.

Stay tuned for more information on the Secret Sister Reveal and Scavenger Hunt.

We are working to fill the positions for next year's board. If you have interest, please contact Shannon Williams or Mary Kate Finney. I also wanted to thank all our special interest group coordinators who continue to volunteer their time to make our club successful. If you do not plan on heading your interest group next year, please remember that you are responsible for finding your replacement.

The next board meeting will be on Thursday, March 5th at the home of Corinne Rossi (52 Fieldstone Way - Greystone Manor). Please email me if you have anything for the board to discuss.

WAYS & MEANS Elaine Bernstein (474-5984, elaine.bernstein@earthlink.net), Carole MacDonald (474-5777, mcdonac8@aol.com), and Elizabeth Montanino (574-6884, elizabethmontanino@yahoo.com)

As you have heard, Auction time is near and we need everyone's help to make it a successful event for us and for our Mountain Top neighborhood organizations.

Please mark your calendar and invite some family, friends, neighbors and co-workers to join in the fun. The date is April 16, 2009 starting at 6 p.m. at the Stage Coach Inn.

Times are tight this year, for lots of us. Therefore, we are suggesting many different ways that you can help, according to what suits your schedule and budget.

1. Item donations do not have to be expensive or complicated. In fact, this is a great opportunity to re-gift and re-home some items. Did you receive a gift card to a restaurant or store that is not one of your favorites? Are you a good shopper who has purchased more bargain items than you are able to use? These items might be good candidates for auction donation. Even a $5 gift card is welcome. We hope to offer items at all price points.

2. Hand-made items and services are always popular. Do you paint, sew, make jewelry, or custom design party invitations? Are you a good cook or baker? Do you do something as a profession that could be contributed to the auction?

3. Theme baskets are still a favorite, if your budget permits. Some ideas: baby boy/girl gift set, housewarming basket, party night basket, bookworm basket, kids' toy basket, pamper yourself basket, game night basket, and many more. Let your imagination run wild and feel free to pair up with your friends to make a group basket. If you were planning to make a large basket, consider breaking it down into smaller ones so that the price may attract more buyers.

4. *********ANNOUNCING A NEW WELCOME CLUB AUCTION CONCEPT - THE BUY-IT-NOW BOUTIQUE************** We are also going to try out a fun, new concept this year. It seems like most of us have in our kids' closets some new clothing that for whatever reason was never worn, but is now outgrown. If it can no longer be returned, please consider donating it to our auction. We are going to have a boutique area this year, where items will simply be tagged with a price and are offered on a first-come-first-served basis. This is not only an easy way to make a donation, but it also will help out others who can purchase items at a great price. We will also accept items of adult clothing and some small gift-type items for the Boutique. We are asking that these items be New-With-Tags.

5. Direct monetary donations are also an option if for whatever reason that works better for you. Any amount is welcome - even $1 helps.

6. Can you help us collect donations from local businesses and non-members? Please let us know this so we can collaborate on our requests. We find that we have greater success in obtaining the donations when we have a personal connection.

7. One of our goals this year is to increase auction attendance by non-members. Can you post a flyer or distribute them in your neighborhood? We encourage you to also personally invite friends and family who would enjoy the evening

8. We are also looking for some volunteers to help us on the auction evening. Your time and efforts are just as valuable to us as the actual items.

.
A Board Member will be contacting you, if she hasn't done so already, to help us facilitate the donation process. But also feel free to contact one of us directly with any issues or suggestions.

We had 70% of our members donate in some way to last year's auction. Let's try to exceed that this year. We can do it! Thanks in advance for anything, no matter how large or small, you can do to help.

A big thank you to January's bakers: Elaine Bernstein, Mary Kate Finney, Barb McLaughlin, Tricia Russell, Shannon Williams (double duty), as well as February's Bakers: Elisa Colo, Lisa Davidson, Kerri Fey, Diane Keating, Pam McGovern and Elizabeth Montanino!

Thanks so much to those individuals that donated baby items for Volunteers of America in Wilkes-Barre!!! They will be greatly appreciated.

Easter Baskets: We will be collecting items for Easter baskets during the March meeting for children aged 12 and under. Please keep it in mind as you are out and about and see something a child might like in their basket. If you are unable to attend the meeting at that time, we have a drop off point at Mary Kate Finney's home.

Adopt-a-Highway Cleanup: A date to be announced, but sometime in May. Please keep this one in mind, for we always seem to be begging for help with this one. As usual, this can go really fast if many people join in. Babysitting will be provided at no cost!!!
