Please pay your annual membership dues! Don't delay so that we can make sure that you are included in the directory. I am happy to report that Beth LaMarca has volunteered to host the Holiday Gift Exchange this year. This is a really fun night out! The gift value will remain the same at $20.00. The exchange will take place on Tuesday, December 16th at 7PM at the LaMarca residence; 11 Orchard Lane, Highland Woods. We will have more details next month. Also, please remember that as the holidays approach our club gets busy with our various service projects: Hats & Mittens, Angel Tree, and a holiday activity with the residents of Davis Manor. I hope you will all consider assisting with these projects. The hats and mittens and Angel Tree gifts help the less fortunate right here in our area. Please read the Services section of the newsletter for more information. The November board meeting will be at the
home of Beth LaMarca (11 Orchard Lane, Highland Woods) on Thursday,
November 6th at 7:30. Please email
with any questions or concerns you have for the board to discuss.
1st VICE PRESIDENT Karin Caporuscio (474-1199 or kacap66@yahoo.com) and Beth LaMarca (474-6320 or bethdoug@ptd.net) GENERAL MEETING: Thursday, November 20th Karen is a professional organizer and will be giving us time saving tips to help organize our lives! or email Beth at bethdoug@ptd.net or Karin at kacap66@yahoo.com
Thank you to those who have volunteered for the Mom Squad! Already our team is reaching out to new neighbors. I've included the list of volunteers below. But as you can see, we still need more volunteers. It is really a very small commitment, as new neighbors moving in, especially in today's market, is occasional. If you're not familiar with the Mom Squad, it's a new program as part of our outreach to new neighbors. A Moms Squad volunteer stops in at the home of a new neighbor and drops off a letter of welcome from our club, our latest newsletter and perhaps (but not necessary) a plate of cookies or something little as a token of welcome. The visits can be as short as a conversation at the doorstep or just dropping the items off if the neighbor isn't home. If you're interested in being part of the "Moms Squad," please contact Kim Carpenter, new members coordinator, at 991-1530 or kimwc@yahoo.com.
Thanks to Crystal Reptak, Tricia Russell
and Mae Schuler for the delicious desserts. Also, a huge thank
you to Crystal for babysitting for us during the meeting. Beth
LaMarca, the centerpieces were beautiful. Thank you for bringing
them and letting us raffle them off.
Please remember to let me know if you know
of someone in need of a card for a new birth, get well wishes,
or death in the family, etc. I am currently updating the directory
and would like to have them ready to send out this month. This
year, we would like to distribute the directory electronically
to members who have provided their email addresses (printed copies
will also be available to members who request one). So, please
remember to get your dues in as soon as possible in order to
be included in the 2008-09 Directory.
Thank you so much, everyone! We are excited
to announce that our Bon Ton Community Day project has raised
over $150 so far, but we still have a chance to improve on that
total.
Hats and Mittens: As the weather starts to get colder, we turn our thoughts to those in our area that might not have the resources that we are so blessed to have. Once again, we will be collecting new hats and mittens to be distributed to children in need through St. Paul's Food Bank. Please bring your donations to the November meeting. They will be greatly appreciated! Angel Tree: We will also be distributing the name tags for the "Angel Tree" program. If you wish, you may sponsor a local child who has been referred by St. Paul's Food Bank. Since we do not have a December meeting, please drop your wrapped donation (please include name tag) off at Mary Kate Finney's, 155 Kestrel Road (Forest Pointe) or Renee Sessions', 10 Autumn Fern Ct. (Sand Springs) by December 14. This is always a great program for the community and a perfect way to lend a hand to those less fortunate than ourselves. Fire Department Appreciation Bakers: I would like to thank the following individuals
that either baked a dessert or made an appetizer for one of the
local fire departments (Rice, Wright and Mountain Top Hose Company
#1) in October: Egda Young, Mary Thomas, Kim Carpenter, Valerie
Way, and Lorraine Novinger. However, bakers are still needed
for the upcoming year, so please consider using your baking talent
and support our local fire companies. If you are interested or
have any questions, please contact Tricia.
Mountain Top Welcome Club in the news: I'm looking for photos of all events such as playgroups and fieldtrips, dinner clubs, special events, adopt-a-highway, picnics, children's parties and any other events that our Welcome Club participates in. I need your help to cover all of our special interest groups. These photos will also be used for our President's album at the end of her term. Please send me any photos you would like published and I will send them to the newspapers. Let's have a great year promoting our Welcome Club!
Please email newsletter articles for the November issue to me by Friday, November 21st, 2008 so that we can get the newsletter out in a timely manner. If your email changes during the year, please let me know. On another note it is out goal this
year to expand the website a bit more to invite new members and
also inform newcomers to the area. If you attend special interest
groups or events and have photos that you'd like to share, please
feel free to email them to me directly. Eventually, we'd like
a section on the website for each special interest group with
a few photos and further explanation about the group. So, for
example, the Dinner Club would have a section with some photos
of some of the attendees and some of their themed meals, as well
as dates and contact information. Thank you!

Preschool playgroup is for children older
than 2. Siblings are always welcome. This year, in order to accommodate
Moms and their preschool-aged children who are attending preschool,
we would like to try to offer this playgroup on different days
of the week. If you would like to hostess, or have any questions,
please contact me. The November will be at my (Megan Kennedy's)
house in Bow Creek.
Come join us for Coffee & Babies this month. This playgroup is primarily for parents and caregivers with children aged two and under and siblings are welcome! If anyone would like to host a play date for this year, please contact me if you are interested. Date: Wednesday, November 19th CHILDREN'S PARTIES Tracie Pratt and Ann Papciak (474-9542 or pppratt@yahoo.com and 403-0488 or kgnfakp@aol.com) Just a reminder to everyone that the RSVP
deadline for the Children's Halloween Party was Oct. 24th. The
party is Wed. Oct 29th at 12:00 p.m.
The small dinner groups have been set up,
but we need some substitutes. It's a good way to learn about
the club. In January we have a cold winters night dinner for
the whole group at the Rademan's. In May we have a Cocktail party
and Dessert. Some time we have a picnic in the summer. These
are good times for new members to meet the group. If interested
call Marie Duclos 678-7332.
Holiday Cookie Exchange! Dig out those family favorite cookie recipes to
share with your friends. In preparation for holiday events, we'll
be doing a holiday cookie exchange. Depending upon the number
of participants, you will bake 6-12 cookies per person to exchange,
plus some extra for us to nibble on that evening. YUM! ;-) Please
provide copies of your recipe as well. We'll supply the coffee,
tea, and of course, MILK!
We are a small friendly group who meet
every other Wednesday morning. You don't need to have a needlework
project to attend, just come for the company and conversation.
We love to welcome new members. Please contact me, or the hostess
if you will be able to join us. Our November meeting will be
on November 12th at the home of Marlene Caponigro, 205 Deer
Run Drive, 474-1035. We will not meet the week of Thanksgiving.
We are planning on meeting Thursday, November
13th from 1-3 at Beth LaMarca's home. Her address is 11 Old Orchard
Lane. You can RSVP to her at 570/474-6320 or Khris at 570/906-8159.
The next book that we are reading is Water
for Elephants by Sara Gruen. Book Club is normally held on
the fourth Friday, but due to the Thanksgiving holiday, we will
tentatively move it to the Friday before on November 21st. It
will be held at the home of Liz Shipton, so if you are interested,
please email or call Liz. (lshipton@verizon.net,

If anyone didn't fill out to help with
