PRESIDENT'S REPORT - Elaine Bernstein (474-5984/814-0286 or elaine.bernstein@earthlink.net)

Happy fall, You All!!! (That is my years of living in Virginia coming out of me. These days I would normally say "You Guys.")

What a wonderful start we have had to Welcome Club this year! Our September "Meet and Greet" was lots of fun, and we had ten (yes, 10) first-timers there. How fabulous!

Welcome to all of our new members, and we look forward to seeing a lot of you in the future.

Our Friends and Family Barbeque was also a great success! Thanks so much to Kim Carpenter for planning, and to Khris and Matt Fox for hosting.

Special interest groups are also off to a wonderful start. In fact, as I type this, I am snacking on delicious kettle corn from the Moms and Tots trip to the Bloomsburg Fair yesterday. (I probably should have gotten the small bag.)

I am also enjoying the results of our new "Magazine Exchange" program, as seen by the huge stack of magazines I have next to my chair in the family room. Heather Cole is doing a fantastic job with this, so please, keep bringing the magazines that you are ready to pass on to the general meetings.

We also found some new homes for outgrown Halloween costumes at the September meeting. The October meeting this year will be over two weeks before Halloween, so please feel free to bring your costume items along again this month.

Thanks, everyone, for your involvement, ideas, and mostly, for your encouragement and support.

Happy October, and I hope to be seeing "you all" soon! :)

1st VICE PRESIDENT - Kerri Fey (479-2739 or Kerrifey0723@aol.com )

Thank you to everyone who attended our first Welcome Club meeting of the New Year! It was great seeing so many new faces and getting to know all members a little better. Our October meeting is back to the normal third Thursday of the month and will be held 10/15/2009 at noon. Our theme for this month is Breast Cancer Awareness. We ask that you wear something pink in support! Our speaker will be a representative from Candy's Place. The cost of the meeting is again $7 and babysitting will be provided at $3 per child. I look forward to seeing you all again on the 15th!

2nd VICE PRESIDENT Membership Kim Carpenter (474-9020 or kimwc@yahoo.com)

Thank you to everyone who attended the Welcome Club's friends and family barbecue! Despite the drizzle, 56 people showed up and had a wonderful time! We all enjoyed delicious food, great company, and games for both adults and children! Most importantly, we all got to know each other better! A special thanks goes to Khristina and Matthew Fox for opening up their home for our get-together. Matt, thanks for doing the grilling...IN THE RAIN, no less! And a thank you to Larry Shipton for making the cream in Oreos creamier! We had 10 guests at our first meeting, thanks to all of you reaching out to friends and neighbors! What a tribute to the kindness of this area and this club! Please continue to invite friends and new neighbors to our events. I'll be getting in touch with all the Mom Squad volunteers from last year to reorganize for this year. In the meantime, please let me know if you have a friend or new neighbor to whom you would like me to send Welcome Club information. Just forward their name and preferably their e-mail address. Thanks!
