October 2009
Happy fall, You All!!! (That is my years of living in Virginia coming out of me. These days I would normally say "You Guys.") What a wonderful start we have had to Welcome Club this year! Our September "Meet and Greet" was lots of fun, and we had ten (yes, 10) first-timers there. How fabulous! Welcome to all of our new members, and we look forward to seeing a lot of you in the future. Our Friends and Family Barbeque was also a great success! Thanks so much to Kim Carpenter for planning, and to Khris and Matt Fox for hosting. Special interest groups are also off to a wonderful start. In fact, as I type this, I am snacking on delicious kettle corn from the Moms and Tots trip to the Bloomsburg Fair yesterday. (I probably should have gotten the small bag.) I am also enjoying the results of our new "Magazine Exchange" program, as seen by the huge stack of magazines I have next to my chair in the family room. Heather Cole is doing a fantastic job with this, so please, keep bringing the magazines that you are ready to pass on to the general meetings. We also found some new homes for outgrown Halloween costumes at the September meeting. The October meeting this year will be over two weeks before Halloween, so please feel free to bring your costume items along again this month. Thanks, everyone, for your involvement, ideas, and mostly, for your encouragement and support. Happy October, and I hope to be seeing "you all"
soon! :)
Thank you to everyone who attended our first Welcome
Club meeting of the New Year! It was great seeing so many new faces
and getting to know all members a little better. Our October meeting
is back to the normal third Thursday of the month and will be held 10/15/2009
at noon. Our theme for this month is Breast Cancer Awareness. We ask
that you wear something pink in support! Our speaker will be a representative
from Candy's Place. The cost of the meeting is again $7 and babysitting
will be provided at $3 per child. I look forward to seeing you all again
on the 15th!
I would like to thank Jo Taylor, Corinne Rodman and
Kerri Fey for providing the delicious desserts for September's meeting.
We are still looking for a permanent babysitter for the meetings. If
you know of anyone interested, please let me know. I am also looking
for two more people to make desserts and someone to do the door prizes
for the October meeting.
Deadline for membership dues will be Fri., Oct. 16,
in order to be included in the 2009-10 Membership Directory. Plans are
to have the directory ready for distribution in November. Also, please
let me know if there are any members in need of a card for a birth,
get well, condolences, or even a thinking-of-you! Have a safe and happy
Halloween!
Please contact the committee members listed above
for more information.
FIRE DEPARTMENT BAKING - Once again the club will provide a dessert or snack for the fire departments monthly meetings. We cover Mountain Top Hose Co., Rice Township and Wright Township.
